Honoring Her Memory

The Jackie Spellman Scholarship Foundation honored the memory of Jackie Spellman by providing meaningful support to students whose lives had been touched by leukemia or lymphoma. The program reflected values of determination, education, and community that defined Jackie’s life.

For twelve years, the scholarship supported students in pursuing their educational goals. Recipients came from diverse backgrounds, yet they shared one connection: each had been directly or indirectly affected by blood cancers. Every award created both an opportunity for academic progress and a continuation of Jackie’s legacy of resilience. Although the program has now concluded, its contributions remain visible in the achievements of students and in the awareness it fostered about acute myeloid leukemia.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship welcomed applications from United States citizens who had been affected by leukemia or lymphoma. Eligible individuals included survivors, those currently diagnosed, and students with an immediate family member who had experienced these conditions while living in the same household.

Qualified applicants included high school seniors, community college students, university students, and graduate students. The foundation defined the criteria for selection through its application process. In several years, students pursuing majors in health sciences or nursing received priority, since those fields play a vital role in patient care and medical research.

Lasting Impact

The program offered more than financial assistance. It also encouraged students who faced challenges connected to serious illness. By supporting education, the scholarship emphasized opportunity, resilience, and the continuation of personal goals despite hardship. Its legacy endures in the accomplishments of recipients and in the inspiration it offered to families navigating the effects of leukemia and lymphoma.

Scholarship Recipients

During the years of the program, many students received the Jackie Spellman Scholarship. Each recipient shared the experience of being affected in some way by leukemia or lymphoma. Their educational journeys and personal achievements demonstrate the lasting influence of the scholarship and the values it upheld.
